We welcome new members. Our rehearsals take place at the Old School, Little Green, Long Melford at 7.15 for a 7.30 start.
Are you a bath-time baritone; a shower soprano; a toothbrush tenor? Do you hum along to the radio as you drive, or sing while you work? If you do then you're a natural singer, even if you don't rate your voice much, and you might consider joining our choir.
We are the Trinity Singers, a choir composed of ordinary people who just naturally want to sing along. The choir has existed for over 25 years, formed and directed for most of that time by Rosemary and Keith Finnemore and a group of friends, under who's care the choir thrived. In 2005 Rosemary and Keith retired and we had to seek out a new director. We were fortunate in finding Stephen Hogger who is a music scholar of some repute. He is a composer as well as a conductor so occasionally we get to sing some lovely music that is about as modern as you can get. Although he demands a high level of attention from us he is patient with our frequent mistakes, makes us laugh and is not in the least intimidating.
At present we do not audition new members as we believe that everyone who wants to sing can become a part of the choir. Many of us couldn't sight-read a note of music when we joined nor even heard of some of the music we perform. It doesn't matter as a choir becomes more than the people who form it. All we ask is that you turn up for our weekly Monday night rehearsals and that you get a little practise done on your own. Our subscription rate is £40 a year and for this you get to perform in three concerts a year, make new friends and learn a lot of new stuff. Our repertoire ranges from early ecclesiastical through the great classics to modern pieces that you might think of as 'Hollywood Style'. Although our concerts will be given in the glorious churches of Holy Trinity, Long Melford and SS Peter and Paul Lavenham, our rehearsals take place at the Old School, Little Green, Long Melford at 7.15 for a 7.30 start.
If you want to join us then come along on any Monday – no special equipment needed – just you and your enthusiasm. If you want to know more or have any questions ring Sarah on 01787 378957 preferably during working hours.
